Happy Birthday Cloud!

Sixteen years ago on this day, May 29th, Cloud tottered out of the trees not too far from this spot with his mother. We went up to his Pryor Mountain home to look for him on his "Sweet Sixteenth." We found him with his band up on Tillett Ridge. A few bachelors came on to the scene, and Cloud proved his fitness and strength once again.

Levi is the horse rescued by Jay Miller, a Tonganoxie man who first encountered Levi while offering to train the horse for an Extreme Mustang Makeover show sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management. The idea is for trainers to make wild horses more adoptable in a 90-day period.

The handbook states roundups are prohibited until six weeks after foaling season which ends on June 30th. Therefore the earliest date to start the roundup is August 11th. Laura Leigh, Project Manager of Herd Watch filed a lawsuit today in US District Court in Nevada to stop the roundup."I found their error right in the BLM's management handbook," explains Leigh adding, "The BLM disregards their own rules when it comes to 'managing' wild horse population."
